Join us on a 2008 Sherpa Family Trip!
Welcome to Sherpa Trips! Throughout the world, many Christian organizations are spreading the Good News of Jesus Christ to all people. Through their commitment to advancing His Kingdom through word and deed, organizations are making an eternal impact in the lives of children, their families, and their entire communities. It is our great joy at Generous Giving and The Maclellan Foundation to be able to see and partner with these incredible organizations through Sherpa Trips. Over the years, we have found that God’s call to us, when obeyed, to go and see God's Kingdom is life changing and transformational. We are excited to invite you to prayerfully consider joining us on a 2008 Sherpa Family Trip.
Please take into consideration the age limit listed for each trip, but in exercising your parental discretion we recognize there may be extenuating circumstances. Note: each Sherpa Family Trip is rated on a 1 to 5 scale depending on its level of ‘campiness’ (Where 1 means it is urban, comfortable and 5 means it is rural, stretching). Please evaluate which trip would be best suited for you and your family.
We truly believe that your experience with Sherpa Trips will be life changing as you interact with international brothers and sisters in Christ in their cultural context. South Africa is one of the most industrialized and wealthy nations in Africa. However, it is a country scarred by stark contrasts and unequally distributed resources. In many ways, South Africa represents the collision of the first and third worlds where the thriving and energetic harbor of Cape Town is just walking distance from slums which are home to over 1.5 million people who are in an ongoing fight for restitution and rights following Apartheid. Lured by the hope of a better life, thousands of refugees from nations such as Zimbabwe and Democratic Republic of Congo have relocated to South Africa only to find the promise of a better life empty.
In the face of such diversity and struggle, many Christian ministries in South Africa are working with people to give them a better future through education, employment, micro-credit, leadership and community development, and most importantly, the good news of Jesus Christ. Specifically, Sherpa Trip participants will partner with ISLS, ALICT, PASSION, CCC and Jubilee Church to help reach people for Christ and will also have the unique opportunity to engage in one on one or small group experiences with individuals doing strategic compassion, community and leadership development, and sports ministry evangelism to highly restricted locations in Africa and around the world. In particular, you will be blessed as you interact with approximately sixty national leaders who minister in the heart of areas controlled by Hinduism and Islam with the desire to change the world and culture to represent Christ more fully.
We truly believe that the Sherpa Trip to South Africa will be a powerful, life changing experience as you see the diversity and beauty of God’s Kingdom and His workers and are presented with the unquestionable disparity apparent in everyday life in South Africa.
